I have two Gmail emails in Thunderbird. One is for work which I want to have notifications when new email arrives and the other is for other stuff like register emails. Is there any ways to turn off the notification for this email? Thank you.

Thunderbird > Tools > Account Settings

  • Choose your Account to Turn OFF notification
    • ex123@gmail.com > Server Settings > Server Settings
    • uncheck [ ] Check for new message at startup
    • uncheck [ ] Check for new message every { } minutes

Now, it won't alert for any message

  • To receive email > click "Get Mail" in the Menu

Thanks for your quick respond. However I want it to keep syncing the mail, just don't want to be noticed.

You can do it for entire thunderbird, not for single account

  • Edit -> Preferences -> General -> "When new messages arrive:"
    • uncheck [ ]Show an alert
