When I migrate mailboxes from Eudora to TBird I end up with duplicate Inboxes

I have used Eudora trouble-free for ~10 years. However, migrating from XP to Win7, and there being minimal support for Eudora now, I decided on TBird as a replacement. The migration went reasonably well in that I got my Eudora mailboxes and my address book over. However I have been unable to manage migrating my filters so have had to create them all again. More importantly the migration has set up a high-level folder called Eudora Settings which contains Inbox and Deleted. It has also set up another high-level folder called Local Folders which also contains Inbox and Deleted. My Eudora Inbox did not migrate (some 1600 mails) to either Inbox but my first down-load from the server duplicated e-mails in both Inboxes. Below Local Folders I have a folder called Eudora in which there is a folder called Mail which contains my Eudora structure (folders and e-mails). How do I simplify the high-level structure?

You get used to it. Local folders is an integral part of Thunderbird and provides access to local storage for IMAP accounts.

It does however sound like you have imported more than once, Tools menu (alt+T) > account settings. Are your accounts duplicated?
