I had to upgrade my browser because of my job and now a majority of my websites have enormous text that is bolded. I HATE this. I am not blind, I do not have my screen settings to some insanely large resolution and this is not a zoom thing. This wasn't a problem on the previous version I had (19) and I really want to get rid of it. I cannot use the option that forces all websites to use my font because of the nature of my job.

What is the deal with this crazy font and how the H*** can I make it look like previous versions??

Hello,

Please see this article:

Try go to Tools >> Options >> Content >> Advanced , try change the default font or see what is the default and try reinstall the font.

What font is used to display this bold text?

You can right-click text on a web page and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).

  • You can check the font used for (selected) text in the Font tab in the right pane of the Inspector.

If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.

  • Tools > Options > Content Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

  • Tools > Options > Content Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

As I mentioned in my initial post - I CANNOT change any default settings because of the nature of my job. This will completely invalidate any findings I may come across

What font is used to display this bold text?

- It's different depending on the web page I am looking at

Tools > Options > Content Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
- Already set to this. No settings are changed by me with the upgrade
Tools > Options > Content Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
- Already set to this
   View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))
- Nope

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
- Didn't change anything
   https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
- Still occurs in safe mode
- Reset did changed nothing.
- I uninstalled, deleted the folder and reinstalled, but nothing changed. Even all my bookmarks were still there, so I don't know what it is uninstalling

You can set the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref on the about:config page to 1.0 (1.25) You can adjust layout.css.devPixelsPerPx starting from 1.0 in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) to make icons show correctly.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Use an extension to adjust the text size in the user interface and the page zoom in the browser window.

You can look at this extension to adjust the font size for the user interface.

You can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoScript extension if web pages need to be adjusted after changing layout.css.devPixelsPerPx.

Looks like it originates after version 21. I can't use anything above that now.
