I have just installed Windows 8.1 on my computer. Then, I installed the latest Firefox. The installation completed successfully. But whenever I open Firefox, it crashes just after 5 seconds.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.

If you can't do the above, start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then try again.

Problem solved! Thanks a lot! Do you know why that problem occurred? I used Windows 7 32 bit OK on this machine. But when I switch to Windows 8 64 bit, it happened.

From the help files;

Since the Use Hardware Acceleration feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
