I have always been able to do something with customizing my Firefox to be able to see most if not all of the themes that I have downloaded for Firefox but this new version has be stuck. Is there away that I can customize my Firefox so that I can see the whole theme again?

A Light weight theme (Persona) covers the user interface part of Firefox (toolbar area) and not the browser window with internet pages. A possibility is to set a min-height to the navigator-toolbox to see more of the Persona.

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

@namespace url("https://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

#navigator-toolbox { min-height:200px !important; }

The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
  • Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
  • Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
  • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window
  • Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
  • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css. Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userChrome.css.txt file

Your reply was so confusing that I don't know the first step to do. I remember being able to widen the toolbar so that I could see the full theme in past Firefox programs it is just this version that I don't know how exactly to do it. Is there a simpler way to do this or is it possible at all in this version?

In older Firefox versions you could add extra toolbar to make the container higher and add space elements to toolbars to have an empty space at the right end. This is no longer possible in the current release, but you can use the Classic Theme Restorer extension to add one toolbar.

What is most important? To have extra vertical space to see the height of the lightweight theme (Persona)?

Were you able to access the Firefox profile folder as the first step?
