Firefox is now taking 30 seconds or more to start on 1 of my machines. I have tried everything including complete removal and reinstallation to no avail. On a slower machine it still starts in under 1 second. Antivirus us the same on both machines. All plugins are currently disabled yet the problem still persists. All was fine until recent update.

You can try refreshing Firefox. This often fixes problems like this. Here's how: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

thanks for the suggestionss guys but neither help me. My firewall settings are exactly the same as the slower machine which works properly. I have tried refresh already. I have completely removed and reinstalled firefox and have all extensions disabled and all add-ons set to ask to activate yet opening a new window still takes over 10 seconds and up to 30 or more seconds with firefox and is still sub 1 second with IE and Chrome. I also ran AV scans and ccleaner.

Once started everything is fine, it is just the startup process.
