How to stop all search engines being displayed in Firefox 36.0.1
I recently updated my installation of Firefox to version 36.0.1.
I had previously set my default search engine to Google UK using the search engine plugin from Mycroft (mycroftproject.com). Now, when I start to enter an item to be searched for, a drop-down menu appears which lists all the search engines that are available to me. Having already chosen my default search engine I find that the constant suggestions of other search engines is becoming irritating. I am quite capable of choosing a different one if need be so is there any way of getting rid of this drop-down menu? It appears as soon as I type the first letter of whatever it is that I want to find.

hello chriscs62, you can disable other search providers from being shown as one-click options when you go to the firefox menu ≡ > options > search and disable the check-mark next to them.
Use the Search bar in Firefox and manage search engines

Hello philipp, many thanks for your reply. I have done as you said and all is fine now.
Note that you can click the Remove button to remove the currently highlighted search engine item from the list.
