The menu tools tab is now on the side of the window. Can I move this to the top like it was previously?

That is the new in content about:preferences page that has replaced the previously used standalone window.

Firefox’s Redesigned Preferences Feel More like the Web:

You can toggle browser.preferences.inContent to false on the about:config page to restore the standalone Options/Preferences window that you had in previous Firefox versions.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Do you mean that you want to use the menu bar instead of the "3-bar" Firefox menu button?

If you mean something different then please attach a screenshot to clarify what you mean.

In current Firefox releases (29 and later) the orange Firefox menu button has been replaced by the three-bar Firefox Menu button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar and this button is always visible whether the Menu Bar is visible or hidden.

  • There is a star like button next to the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu.
  • You can find "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at near the top of the drop-down list.
  • If you bookmark a page then "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu as well as the tooltip of the star changes to "Edit This Bookmark".
  • You can toggle the title bar on/off via the "Title Bar" button at the bottom left in the Customize palette window.

You can make the Menu Bar visible via the right-click context menu of a toolbar or via "Customize -> Show/Hide Toolbars" to have the menu bar with the File and Edit and Bookmarks and History and Tools menus.

As depicted in the screenshot, the tabs are no linger on the to, they are on the side. Can I move them to the top, like previous versions? I hope the screenshot is visible.

Thanx for the answer!! This new feature is really awefull on a big screen: I have a 27" 16:9 monitor and this new option menu makes it WAY to big. On the left side descriptions and so on and then on the far right side the buttons to activate and so on. Very very bad for a good oversight :(

Edit: nevermind. What I wrote is caused by an add-on.
