I am just now setting up TB 31.7.0 in Windows 7 64 Bit. I want to use the Global Inbox to fetch email from all accounts and have configured one such account, let's call it me@mysite.com. I am aware that Shift + F5 is supposed to fetch email from All Accounts but this does not seem to work with me@mysite.com. Also, Get Messages > Get All New Messages does not work for me@mysite.com. Instead, I have to select Get Messages > me@mysite.com, and would presumably need to do this separately for each additional Global Inbox account that I want to check. Is there a keyboard shortcut or command for invoking Check mail for all such accounts, or will I have to press Get Messages and select each of the accounts in turn?

Thank you

I have issues within issues here.

1. Tools menu (alt+T) > account settings > server settings > advanced and endure check this server when getting new mail is checked.

2. Thunderbird collects mail on startup andf on a time based schedule you specify while running. the need to "get mail" for all accounts is actually a rare need because of these two things.

Hi Matt,

Thank you for responding.

I am aware of and had checked the setting "check for new messages at startup" and "check for new messages every 10 minutes". I did want to have full functionality in the command, Get All New Messages. However, I seem to have missed setting Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings > Advanced > Include this server when getting new mail = Checked for the account in question. After checking this item, new mail is indeed fetched for the account saved to the Global Inbox.

So thank you again for resolving this problem for me.

That advanced setting is just not set for some people and I have no idea why.

As you can only set it once per server even if you have a dozen accounts on that server, I think what happens is the base account that set it gets deleted. But as I said I really do not know the cause.

Yes, I agree, this important switch should not be buried unexpectly under Advanced, but thank you again. Interesting that the setting affects all accounts for a given server.
