WHY DOES THUNDERBIRD ONLY DOWNLOADS 4 MESSAGES AT A TIME FROM MY GMAIL ACCOUNT EVEN AFTER COMPACT IS DONE?
I download my gmail emails using thunderbird. When one clicks "Get Messages" or "get all new messages" only 3 or 4 emails download at a time. So if I have not opened thunderbird in 5 days, the 100 or so emails I received will download 3 or 4 at a time is I click " Get messages" and not all the messages as is to be expected.
Server is set to check new messages every 30 minutes.
In my research on the issue Ive seen suggestions of compacting folders. I compact folders all the time and that has not fixed it.
There was a suggestion to backup my inbox, then delete a certail file (forget the name now) which recreated itself after reopening. That has not fixed the problem either.
Please help!!
Kindest regards Victor

Are you on Windows 10?
And are you on Thunderbird 38.2.0? If not, please update and tell us the results.
If you are on version 38.2.0 and see the problem, please start Windows in safe mode and tell us the results.
Thank you Wayne for getting back to me.
I am on version 38.2.0, Windows 7 Home basic.
I restarted in Safe Mode and still 2 - 4 messages max at a time. (I tried about 4 times)
Please advise further
Thank you Victor
