Hello,

I would like to receive much more intrusive web notifications so that I can actually notice them. But I see no option in firefox to customize how notifications are displayed.

I see in about config one undocumented option: notification.feature.enabled What does it do?

Is there a way to make firefox web notifications on linux more noticeable and void them disappearing after a few seconds? Maybe add sound as well?

Using ff 40 on fedora linux.

Are you talking about things like a viruses and such? That is done by your anti-virus software.

I don't think I mentioned anything like that. I want to have more intrusive notifications from some apps, and less annoying from other apps. e.g. calendar should interrupt me while some unimportant app should have notification less visible.

The built-in notification feature is pretty limited; the developer can only specify the title, text, and icon.

Fancier notifications probably require an add-on.

I can't tell. Normally sites prompt you for permission to show desktop notifications. Maybe that's a blanket permission?

I don’t think you mentioned anything specific related to notifications in your original question. Firefox and any other browser are browsers and hence hardly contain anything like notifications (time-based, calendar-based, virus-based etc.).

As said, notifications are the job of websites visited or applications, even when integrated in browser software, so you are likely talking about particular websites, apps or add-ons. Please be specific on what and from what app or program you would like to see notifications from and we may be of help.
