It's a little odd that Google UK was automatically your home page after installation, but it could be that Firefox imported that setting from Internet Explorer at the same time it imported favorites/bookmarks, unless you opted out of that.

If you prefer the built-in page, usually you can easily change it on the Options page. You just need to delete the address of the Google page and leave the home page blank.

Does that work?

Google's site doesn't have the Firefox icon in the actual page. Is that what you meant?

Perhaps you are looking for the built-in home page. To check, type or paste about:home in the address bar and press Enter. Is that the home page you have on your desktop PC?

You can use the built-in home page and change your default search engine to Google to connect the home page to Google search results. To change your default search engine, please see this article: Change your default search settings in Firefox. (In addition to accessing search settings from the search bar on the toolbar, you can click the magnifying glass icon to the left of the search box on the built-in home page.)

Does that help?

If not, when you get a chance, check your settings on your desktop PC to see what they point to. This article shows the way: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.

Thanks for the reply ,am not too "pc savvy" as yet ,but have attached 2 screenshots that maybe explain my query better, the globe with the fox on is on my desktop pc after installing Firefox on it, the one without is the one on my laptop after installing Firefox...just seemed odd and was thinking i had done something wrong .
