How can I change how my bookmarks are viewed when I click the "Bookmarks" icon on my macbook?
I used Firefox on my PC for decades and organizing bookmarks was a breeze, but I'm not finding it so easy on my mac. I've put most of my bookmarks into folders thinking that would help clean up the main bookmark "screen", but all the bookmarks still show in one long list, with the folders at the bottom. I'd like to just have the ones that are NOT in folders appear on the main screen, because they're the ones I use the most and it saves me a click not having to go into a folder. Or, if I can't accomplish that, I'd like to move the folders to the top, but they won't stay when I drag them. The old "organize" capability I'm used to was so easy, what am I missing here?

I'm not sure how I got the urls into the folders the first time, but I deleted them all out of the folders and dragged and dropped them back into the folders in Library view and it worked. Thank you!

If you drag bookmarks and bookmarks folder to a specific position in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) then they should stay ordered that way. If that isn't happening then there may be a problem with an extension or with the places.sqlite file that stores bookmarks and history.
Are you using Sync to sync bookmarks to other devices?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
- Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database file then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database file from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync (temporarily) while performing maintenance/repair efforts to the places.sqlite database.
