I want to mark a URL in the text of the message in Thunderbird so it will function as a link. Some Help-texts say: "use the <Insert|Link> command". But I can't find any <Insert|Link> in the menu or menu/option or elsewhere.

I have understood that if "... the link is formatted as a link (underlined and colored), but if you click it nothing happens." But I read also "When a message is sent, Thunderbird "activates" links". So in the end it will work as the desired link I suppose.

The quotes come from "Hyperlinks in Messages Not Working"/"Problems with composing messages" in the Help of Thunderbird. So my question can be read as: How do I make a link to an URL in a e-mail message? I hope my Dutch-English is clear enough! And hope to receive a solution. Thanks. Ton Pagie

You only see this option if you are composing using HTML, and you have the menu enabled.

Do you see the formatting toolbar? The one with font size, colour, smilies etc?

If you have this but can't see the menu, press and hold <alt> and tap v to view the menu. Then you should see the Insert item on the menu.

However you don't need this feature. If you just paste the URL into your message text, it will be shown in most email clients to the user as an active link.
