Spell check does NOT function
Dear Sir/Madam,
Good evening.
The link you provided to my earlier query did not answer my question. Your instructions state that 'Firefox automatically checks the spelling of words that you enter...' spell check does not function automatically for me (on my PC with W10) and there is no explanation as to how to make it work? Although my computer shows FF as being my default browser, maybe there is a problem here and this is not actually the case? Perhaps the automatic spell check only works if FF has been correctly set as default browser?
Please help me confirm that FF is my default browser and more importantly to get the spell check operational.
With thanks, Anthony

Original question; When I request FF as default browser reverts to settings? Also cannot get spell check to work? https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1113754
Are you using just the one built into Firefox, or something else?
Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.
Type: layout.spellcheckDefault Its values are; 0 Spell Checker Off 1 Check Only Multi-Line Input Boxes. 2 Check Multi And Single Line Input Boxes.
Also, check the spellchecker.dictionary entry.
Address bar....what is that? Where is that? This answer is meaningless.

If you are not using en-US or one of the couple other locales that comes with a dictionary then you need to make sure you have a dictionary installed and selected. See above article about this.

The Location aka Address Bar on top of Firefox window where you type in urls like www.example.com or https://support.mozilla.org for example.
about:config is one of the about urls you can use that is listed among others in about:about however about:config is not a simple thing to use as you should be careful.
