I need to access Thunderbird on my new computer but I don't know what passwords to use. I have tried a variety of words. I want to be able to see all my old emails, groups, addresses, if possible. Is all that information stored centrally please? If so how can I access it? I use a spam filter which all my emails go through called spamarrest.com. As far as I am aware - and I am not tech savvy - they weren't backed up on my old computer. I have the hard drive, but not the old computer.

What you need is your Thunderbird profile from the old computer. If you didn't bother to back it up (why not?), you'll need to copy it off the old drive. Ask someone you know for help or hire a professional if you feel uncomfortable to do this yourself.

Once you got the old profile, create a new profile on the new computer and copy the old one over it. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Create_a_new_profile_and_copy_the_old_one_over_it
