Constantly "freezes" up. I can delete or open 4 emails and then it quits responding & I have to go out and do something else then go back in. (win10)

Thunderbird constantly "does not respond" after opening 3 -4 emails or deleting 3-4 emails. then I must close Thunderbird and do something else ie play a game or go on the internet then return to Thunderbird and it will work for about the same amount of time.
