I use Thunderbird as my default e-mail client. I was prompted to update Windows. On reinstalling Thunderbird, as had been deleted, when I reconnected to g-mail and hot mail the address book /contacts were not also imported. I looked for a way to use addresses to repopulate in my sent messages to repopulate at least names and e-mail addresses. This was not possible ( you might look at a way to do this) I looked for a sync command to obtain my contacts and e-mail addresses from G-mail or Hotmail. This does not exist. Please advise me how I can repopulate my contact names and at least e-mail addresses and how to save them separately so this does not happen to me again. Many thanks and regards, resolucion

Does "update Windows" mean from an earlier version to Windows 10?

Email accounts don't store address books. But rather than re-installing everything from scratch, we need to find if you can restore your pre-upgrade Thunderbird profile.

There are already tools to extract email addresses from messages, but it would be more direct to find and use the old profile. We usually have more than just email addresses in our Address Books, and none of this additional material (phone numbers, street addresses, birthdays) would be obtained by collecting email addresses from messages.
