I had 2 cpanel accounts on Thunderbird, one stopped working weeks ago, I've no idea why. I was unable to solve the issue so decided to delete both and reinstall them. Now neither will connect. I keep getting the following message:

"Configuration could not be verified - is the username and password wrong?"

The username and password are correct as both accounts and I also have a hotmail account still running in Thunderbird.

I wonder if this is anything to do with authentication in Cpanel? Although authentication seems to be disabled in Cpanel.

Any help appreciated.

I think you probably just need to make sure that the server settings are correct. I also use Cpanel for my domain, so can help.

In Cpanel, go to Mail accounts. Scroll down to your e-mail accounts. Click "More" beside the account, then select "Configure Email Client".

This will show you "Mail Client Configuration" for the e-mail address. Hopefully your hosting provider has a "Manual Settings" section. I strongly suggest using the Secure SSL/TLS Settings, if they are available, partly because e-mail hosts don't necessarily support the non-Secure methods anymore, even if they don't tell you. Here it should also say if authentication is required.
