Hi : )

I love Firefox, and I find it simply excellent. But...

in the last months Im having lots of FREQUENT crashes. I dont know why.

it often crashes (even 20-30 times a day), mostly with an empty page (#argh this page was closed), sometimes the program closes by itself, I restart it, it goes for some minutes or even less, and the the problems are back again.

I tried many solutions: I reinstalled it, I tried the safe modus (it crashes thesame way), disinstalled all the plug ins. disintalled the firefox accelerator. tried windows10 compatibility solutions, I created a new profile. i have the latest version, of course.

I have these issues ONLY with firefox. maybe is the 64 bits version? my laptop is 2 year old.

it does not get any better with the above solutions.

below the copy of a mozilla crash report (there are many I just picked one)

could you please help? what can i Do?

thanks a lot merlino

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

I called for more help.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hey there, I got in contact with the people working on that bug and pointed them here, as they may be looking for more information on this particular crash.

In the meantime, can I ask that you try the latest Beta build to see if you can reproduce the same crash signature for bug 1406727?

You can download it from here, scroll down to the bottom of the page:https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox.../releasenotes/

Thank you, your testing really helps other users experiencing this crash. I am confident that working together with the team will help get this fixed.

Hi there, merlino3 and FredMcD

I have some news, but I need your help to test out a Nightly build of Firefox to see if the crash happens on this version: It is just another version of Firefox, but+6months of development. Nightly ASAN build can be downloaded here from the ftp Mozilla hosted server: https://queue.taskcluster.net/v1/task/TByH83HhRCunzxqwqq774A/runs/0/artifacts/public/build/target.zip

You will have to close Firefox after you download it, then install, and open it. It should open with the same profile.

Can you let us know if it happens again?

It seems to work better then the normal version I had, but still there are some crashes (#argh this tab crashed/closed)

/// referring to your next email dated 5.18.18 thanks, but I dont know what is a nigthly asan build (not from a mozilla adress ??) so, not installed yet.

do you think my laptop has video or windows10 software ploblems or others, OR this is just a firefox software problem?

thanks for your help and have a nice day from italy

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

Try to do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Hi

since you told me, Im using the 61.0 beta version. its ok, somehow better. but the problem is still there, plus i noticed that : if I configure firefox to clean all the cookies after the session, if I close and I give a look, there still are cookies (and always google.com or mail.google.com).

shall I continue using 61.0 or send you the list of crashes or whatever.. how can I be helpful to solve this annoying issue...

thanks for your help, to all of you
