I am stuck in a pretty unfortunate but unique situation.

I had enabled Firefox Sync on my laptop and had the same Firefox account running on my Android phone. All was well until I enabled the two-step authentication for my Firefox Sync Account. The second step of verification was through the Google Authenticator App. I cannot find my backup codes. The sync used to work perfectly fine on both my laptop and my Android phone.

In the recent past, I bought a new Android phone and changed the existing Hard Disk Drive on my laptop to a Solid State Drive simultaneously and did not log out of my synced Firefox account on my laptop. When I try to login to my Firefox account (on my laptop or Android phone) to sync my data, the first step proceeds as expected (because I remember my password). However, the second step (verification) asks for a 6-digit code or a 10-digit recovery code. I do not have a 6-digit code since I had to setup the Google Authenticator App afresh on my new Android phone and I cannot find my 10-digit recovery code. Thus I am not being allowed to login to my Firefox account.

Alternatively, I tried to reset my Firefox account. I have no other option but to not mind losing all the bookmarks, history and related information that was synced to my Firefox account (am I right?). But I am facing an issue while trying to reset my Firefox Sync account too! I clicked on "Forgot Password" in the Firefox Sync Sign-in Page, entered my email address and clicked on the "Begin reset" button. I received an email with a "Create new password" link. I clicked on it and entered my new password and confirmed the same. Got a successful message which said "Complete set-up by entering the new password on your other Firefox devices.". When I try to sign-in with the new password, Firefox asks me for the two-step authentication again (asks for a 6-digit code from the Google Authenticator App or a 10-digit recovery code)!

This makes it impossible for me to sign in to Firefox using the same email address that I had previously used for the sync. Is this a lost cause and should I just use Firefox sync with a new email address or is there some hope for me to continue using my previous email address?

Did the link to change the Firefox Account password bring you to the accounts.firefox.com website? If that was the case then try to reset the password another time and then proceed to the Settings page and see if you can disable 2FA.

This link asks me to check my email for a sign-in confirmation link but I do not get any confirmation link on my email (even tried clicking on the "Resend" link)!

As I mentioned. The Token is gone as should have unhooked it from Syn before doing what you did.

Explain the issue, put in the link to this page (your question) Wait for contact. It can take a couple of hours or a couple of days since it is a holiday.
