TB stopped allowing me to write a couple of weeks ago

have installed a new thunderbird..brought in old saved profile..still can't write works fine on a laptop..tried all the safe boots etc...to no avail.. windows 10..problem developed spontaneously 2 weeks ago.. freezes when I try to write an email. receives email fine...just can't write

I finally figured it out...The attached signature file was 'blocking' the write command. Dumped it and all is working. thanks for your help..

Safeboots - I hope its windows safe boot, not thunderbird.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

have read all the solutions in this support area..none worked. As soon as I hit CTRL M..freezes...

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem
