I bring up message filters and click on "Block List" Lots of choices: (x) Manually Block (X) Getting New Mail (Filter before junk classification) (.) Match all of the following: From (isn't in my address book) (Name)<Address of offending sender> Delete Message Above are the settings I use . The (Name> changes but the <address of the offending sender> is the same, so I am not able to block all these undesirable adds. Are there better settings that will get this done? Otherwise I may have to abandon this address of mine, I'm getting 50 of these a day from the same address, but with name changes I can't win.

spam is never going to be successfully managed with blocklists. That is why Thunderbird do not have a "block" button.

I suggest you click the junk button for the sender whenever you get their mail. I think the junk filter will learn you do not like the mail. Even if it ignores the sender address.
