I'm trying Thunderbird for the first time in a few years, and it's finding old messages but not current ones, so I want to start over and want to know how.

I'm a Eudora user, and Eudora has become obsolete. I tried switching to Thunderbird a few years ago and it didn't work very well. I was able to get Eudora to run a couple more years so I ignored Thunderbird. Now, Eudora is working poorly and I'm trying Thunderbird again, but it's not displaying current messages at all. It seems to be bogged down dealing with thousands of old messages from the past two years. How can I make it forget all that old email and get the current stuff? Thanks

If you had removed them from the server they would not be a problem now. Perhaps it is something Eudora could not do in the end? Remove messages from the server.

It is also possible if you have had Thunderbird installed (or the profile remained) that it is now bringing your mail store up to date after being offline for two years. Either way it has to get the old messages before it can show you the new ones.
