Hello, I'm kind of plain lazy person and i would like to know if there is a way to change the search engine when you're searching something in the top right corner. My question is kind of particular because the solution that already exist ( typing and then using Tab or Alt +arrow , etc.) don't fit to what I want . I would like to change the search engine not by navigating with keyboard, but by using shortcut that directly concerns the engine I want to use. I'm in trouble trying to explain what i want exactly so I'll try to give an example : Let's say XFoo is my default engine. Now I want to search with Ybar search engine. The steps to accomplish my search would be:

1) Typing what I look for 2) -Insert a Keyboard combo like Ctrl+Y - + Enter

Is there a way to configure firefox to do this ?

Thanking you

Hi,

Maybe you can check this if this will suit you: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/assign-shortcuts-search-engines].

This is the closest solution to your problem as far as I know.

Hi, you don't need to use a keyboard shortcut, just click the left-hand end of the search bar and select a different search engine to your default.

You can change the available options in 3-bar menu Options > Search.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please help other users by marking the best reply as Solved. Thank you!

Thank for replying, this does not answer my question ( this is my fault), the main goal of my question is to achieve this by using keyboard shortcut, not using my mouse.

That's probably the closest solution indeed, thank you !

Note: This does NOT work if a Search Engine is installed as an Add-On on your mozilla

In the search bar you can change the search engine via Ctrl + Up/Down

You can right-click a search engine icon in the search engine drop down list to set this engine as the default search engine, so you do not need to go to "Options/Preferences -> Search" (about:preferences#search).

Uh, to make that extra clear:

In the Search Bar, you can change the search engine via Ctrl + Up/Down Arrows.
