On my win10 desktop using Firefox 64.0, I get an annoying sidebar when viewing youtube videos in full-screen mode and using it can cause the page to scroll down from the actual video. On my win10 laptop, which also runs Firefox 64.0, this doesn't happen and full-screen videos are presented properly (see "shared data").

What can cause this? How can I get rid of that scroll bar?

So what does the screenshot of the error show? Just stating it doesn't convey the error.

You may have accidentally zoomed web page(s). Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View -> Zoom -> Reset (Ctrl+0/Command+0 (zero))

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Hmm, I don't have a bar on Windows 7 (laptop), although I can scroll by using a two finger swipe down on the touchpad.

Does your fullscreen left-side sidebar list the channels, etc.?

I recently cleared my YouTube cookies and got the "new" design (has a dark theme on the settings menu, for example). Do you have that or are you still using the old design?

When I click the full screen button on the player then I can scroll the YouTube media player page with the mouse wheel, but I do not see a scroll bar.

The player control bar has a "Scroll for details" button that you probably should resist to click :wink:
