Google translate used to translate highlighted text and show it on the same page in place of the highlighted text , since recent Firefox (Win) updates it now it opens a new tab and runs the google translator webpage. Yet the Google description says it still supposed to do on screen translation.

On 29 November, 2018 Google Translate page changed.

Because of this, inline selection translation function is now suspended, and selection translation opens the translation in a new tab.

What add-on are you talking about? Questions about the add-on should be directed to its support.

This one:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/user/4972254/

I have been using it for years but about 6-8 weeks ago it stopped replacing the text on whatever page you are on as described above, started opening a new tab with google translate. This is Win 10 64 bit Firefox Quantum and is up to date, as is the Add-on.

Hello escondite,

Have you looked at the reviews lately  ?

They mention the same problem as yours (and more) :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-translator-for-firefox/reviews/

You could either contact the developer(s) or find a replacement.

Unfortunaltely there's nothing Firefox support can do about it ....
