Firefox takes several attempts to load home page at opening
For the past few weeks, when I open firefox, it shows that it is trying to load the home page, but then stops trying and ends up with a blank window. After clicking on the home button one or more times, the home page finally opens. I have the most recent version of FF, downloaded today. This problem seems to be happening since the update before this one. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Note: this only happens upon opening the browser. Once I have gotten it to load the homepage, it goes smoothly.

What are you using as your home page?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Hi,
Thanks for your response. Yahoo is my home page. FF does the same thing when it is started in safe mode. It shows all the connecting, handshake, etc at the bottom of the screen, but will come up with "Yahoo" on the tab, but nothing on the screen. After I click on the home icon at the top, Yahoo usually will open. I have always used Yahoo as my home page, but this is a relatively problem.
Did you try Firefox Safe Mode?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox application. Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thanks for your help. None of the above worked; I can eventually get to the homepage, but it's never on the first try.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

While you are in safe mode;
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
