Why TB developers are so incompetent to make TB not to freeze when composing emails?
When I click to compose an email, TB freezes every few seconds. Why is this happening? Is it so difficult for TB to check for emails or do other background operations without having to freeze the compose window? Is it because it tries to save the draft email and it freezes every 3 seconds? Is it so difficult to make it save it locally and then save it to the server if you cannot make it not freezing when it tries to save the draft to the server? This is extremely disappointing and I wonder if all these years of supposed maturity for TB have any real benefit in the end product or we are in reality brought back?

The most common cause for TB freezing is anti-virus software. What is your anti-virus software?

It's up to you to decide where you want to save your drafts, you can configure it in your account settings. It's either local or on the server, but not both.

I concur with christ1. The test would be to start Windows in safe mode - win8 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17076/windows-8-startup-settings-safe-mode
I use the default Windows antivirus. I am not sure if the place where drafts are saved is the problem or something else.
Please try Windows safe mode as suggested by Wayne above. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1269608#answer-1255203
What does Windows have to do with it?
I do not have any problem with Windows at all, so I wouldn't like to mess with it. TB is the problem.
If developers were deliberately encoding thunderbird to freeze in all situations on all computers then you could say it was their fault. But as that does not occur then it is incorrect and somewhat impolite to call them incompetant.
However, you do experience it, so something is causing it on your computer.
In order to rule out known causes and offer best advise as to what is the cause, we need information. Running your computer in 'Safe Mode with Networking' is not messing with anything. You are not going to change a thing, but you are going to help resolve your issue.
Start your Computer in 'Safe Mode with Networking' Then start Thunderbird and retest to see if the same issue occurs. The results will tell the forum if there is another program interupting the Thunderbird program. This information will help us to help you.
