I made the mistake of selecting my entire addresses list and sending it to my printer. As it started to print each entry on a separate page I tried to cancel it. Trouble is it cancels printing of one entry only ie the current address, then starts printing the next entry. As it is a long list I want to simply kill it but have found no way of doing so. Even a reboot doesn't work, the printing resumes after restart. I realise that this is slightly outside of Tbird but thought someone might have solved this previously. I;m using Windows 10 on an HP laptop and and Canon MX870 printer.

See if you can open the print queue and clear any pending or active jobs:

Wish I could but strangely I cannot get my printer to appear in the Settings page and when I try to add it all that happens is the printing restarts??

When the printer is printing, there should be an icon in the notification area you can open and control the print job.

Notification area?? If I kill the job on the printer it is still on the queue and will reprint. I haven't yet found any way to kill the whole job. Cancelling only cancels printing of a single entry. Thanks anyway sfhowes.

Then there might be one entry of each page in the print que on your system, but this is a question about how to use your operating system facilities, not Thunderbird.

Perhaps this will help https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/print-job-stuck-in-spooling-state/65ffb598-0545-49c2-89b4-84719b2cce5b?auth=1
