Firefox "disappears" when I shut down MAC OS

I have a new MAC and latest version of Firefox. Every time I shut down my computer, Firefox "disappears". It is no longer in the taskbar, and I have to download it again. Bookmarks are lost, except I have them saved on another device (iPhone). What am I doing wrong??

This can occur if transferring the Firefox.app program file to the Applications folder is not successful. Can you review the steps in the following article to see whether it suggests doing anything different than what you've tried so far:
