Migrate Thunderbird 78.3.1 profile

more options

All of the videos and documentation to migrate a profile are for version 68 and below. I am "NEW" to using ThunderBird, and I've been using the portable apps for windows to access my personal items on a "work" computer, so I have 78.3.1 installed everywhere. I recently re-installed Linux Mint, version 20, on my computer at home to give it a go since I'm not a fan of Windows 10. I would like to confirm I did the migration correctly:

  • Windows Machine --> Copy all items in "PortableApps/ThunderbirdPortable/Data/profile"
  • Linux Machine --> Paste all items to "/home/{name}/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/cache/thunderbird/{random T-Bird #}.default-default"

Did I miss anything? My filters appear to have been transferred correctly, along with my folder structure and my Linkfile to DropBox

Hello there chug 1. We have read your message. We try to help you.

you ask me if this is done correctly to run Thunderbird on your computer machine? Of course if it works then there is a chance that you did it right, you didn't seem to have everything copied and transferred to another operating system?

Where there things that did not work?

I'm new to Linux. I literally just tried to transfer said profile from my portable app to Linux. It appears to be working correctly, not sure if I missed anything. I have not tried all of the add-ons, but e-mails appear to be coming and going.... I have a Win 7 machine next to me with the portable app, so I cannot recall if I've responded on the Linux Machine. Again, no articles, how-to's, videos, etc. using the NEW version 78

When you copy a profile from Windows to Linux, delete the pkcs11.txt file, with TB closed, to avoid issues with stored passwords.
