Disk Crash prompted a new install of TB 78.4.3 , installed and opened ok against a saved RoamingThunderbird Folder(incl Profile) but when I closed it down and tried to restart TB it crashes showing a window pane screen.

Have had to reinstall Thunderbird and then use a saved /Roaming/Thunderbird folder with all of the files in it. Put the Folder in the new TB Roaming Directory and TB starts O.K against this Folder with the profile in it re emails/ accounts etc, I use POP3 so all my emails are held and managed locally. When I then close down TB and re-open it, it crashes showing a small red window pane screen. Been at it for 3 days now trying all different combinations including saving a new profile in Profile Manager, changing ini files etc but nothing works, the idea of putting the import/export Addon fails as I need to close TB down for it to be effecrtive and as mentioned I cant then re-open it. Curently I have TB permanently open so I can atleast see emails coming in but when I will eventually close it I will be back to a profile dated 09/11/2020 with the consequence of losing the history of anything done in the interim re emails sent , filed etc. This issue really is a massive pain as I need to find a way out of it without setting up a completely empty profile and starting from scratch; I have over 10 years of emalls stored and approx 8 email accounts setup all POP3 based. Any help to get out of this would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance Jonathan Ashton

Further to my earleir post for help, I have conceded defeat with regard to getting Thunderbird to work correctly, very very frustrating as it appears a Thunderbird upgrade has really screwed up using what had been a simple contingency / restore process of copying a saved Thuderbird Profile into the Active Thunderbird Roaming Folder. Have now downloaded SeaMonkey while still having Thunderbird Open and SeaMonkey auto copied everything from Thunderbird Profile I had restored to re emails , account setups etc from the open TB instance. Had to re-enter the Pop3 Server Passwords but everything else appears to have been ported across from Thunderbird to SeaMonkey email - they were developed from the same source apparently and look very similar. I am going to close Thunderbird down shortly never to be opened again; dont know how many users will leave Thunderbird because of these types of issues but I would recommend every user of Thunderbird checks out their approach to being contingent especially against a disk crash leading to a re-installation of Windows 10 and re-installation of all apps that had been previously installed. I am answering my own questions here but it may help others. Having got SeaMonkey up and running and downloaded the Address Book from TB to SM I then encountered an issue with SeaMonkey re Dictionary Add Ons failing due to manifest issue(little to none info surrounding this) but this then led to silly issues with a spell checker screen being displayed which had no text in it and did not have the Dictionary(Language) present in the Dopdown. I then closed my Thunderbird email, tried to re-open on the off chance a miracle had happened but it failed displaying the minimised windows pane. I then uninstalled TB which left all directories and files as is and uninstalled the program. I then reinstalled TB and opened it against the most recent TB directories and it has worked, closed it and re-opened and it is working fine now. I have absolutely no idea what has gone on here, it is a can of worms that I would prefer to have not opened but I am now back using TB, SeaMonkey was an interesting 3 hour journey and looked good until I hit the Dictionary / Spell Checker issue but it did act as valid 'backup' option to Thunderbird, I should add that I also use MailStore and when I had TB up and running knowing of I close it a restart wouid fail I also backed TB emails et al up to Mailstore which worked perfectly. Waste of 3 days really, fannying around with TB. Compliments Jonathan Ashton
