It used to be that when I have the auto bcc option selected in my account settings, my replies to messages would also auto bcc to the designated address.

No longer.

Does anyone know (a) if/why Mozilla did away with this, or (b) how to recreate that setting?

Presently, new messages auto bcc, but replies don't.

Does the auto bcc setting work with replies in safe mode (hold Option when launching TB)?

The auto BCC does work properly in safe mode, yes.

Which add-ons do you have? Safe mode affects several things, but I would expect in this case there's an incompatible extension.
