greetings all, I have just updated to Thunderbird 91.1.2 64-bit version and everything seemed to be going perfectly.

I can receive emails no problem but if I press reply the send button is grayed out completely and can't be selected.

The same happens if I compose a new message, the send button is completely greyed out.

As this is a business it makes it really difficult. I have uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it again with the exact same consequences.

to make matters worse a couple of times when trying to write a new message the send button is not grayed out and is active but pressing the button does absolutely nothing. I read somewhere it is something to do with dictionaries so I installed the Australian dictionary without any change to the program and the way it is working.

I am also noticing when looking at the inbox that both the from address and the to address are also not populated and the subject line remains the same if I select 2 or 3 different emails ?

After 20+ years with Thunderbird I'm getting a bit stressed out.

Needing help please !

the crash Id as described here would be much more useful. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports

But the send button will never be active unless there is a valid from and to: address, so your initial issue appears to be not what you think it is.

What happens if you restart Thunderbird from the help menu in troubleshooting mode and continue when prompted?

So far, none of the solutions work. Send is still grayed. Not able to get any business or personal emails sent out. Please fix this.

I eventually got it to work after many days. I needed to basically remove Thunderbird remove every relationship to Thunderbird of the computer and then remove everything in the registry. After this was done the program was reinstalled and then link to the old profile location. Now it works.

Something is getting corrupted during the update process. I will see if I can find a link for you to the webpage which shows you what to take out of the registry. I did try to do it without making changes to the registry and it still didn't work. Just removing the program through windows add and remove programs does not work. You have to get into the backend and try and remove every trace of Thunderbird then reinstall.

I now have it working properly with the exception of file associations. If somebody sends me a word document it always tells me the splash screen "open with which program" even though Microsoft Word is selected every time. When you go into the program file association defaults it very clearly shows that the relationship is correct between Word documents and Microsoft Word in the same with PDFs and anything else that comes in. In my installation something is not quite right even now.

Everything else in version 91 seems to be working okay (thankfully) I did do a donation after I sorted out getting version 91 to run
