Facebook page jumps when typing a reply
When I start to type a reply to a Facebook post, the page scrolls down so that the line I am typing disappears one line below the bottom of the screen. I have to scroll down to see what I'm typing. Also, it jumps down the same way whenever I hit the backspace key to edit what I'm typing.
I discovered a previous (archived) post on this forum that suggested using "about.config" and making sure that the value setting for browser.backspace_action is equal to 2. But that didn't change the annoying behavior. Is there any other value I should try? It's not clear what the number means.
Nor did setting browser.backspace to true (or to false) seem to help with the unwanted jumping upon use of the backspace key.
This only seems to happen with Facebook, but it's quite annoying.

It was not a hardware problem (that should have been obvious). But there was an Addon called "Old Layout for Facebook" which was enabled and causing the problem.

donthavecow, I don't really understand your question.
I'm viewing post in a Facebook page using Firefox, then I mouse click in the "write a comment" area to start an answer. At that point, the page doesn't move, and a typing cursor appears within the comment text entry area. However, as soon as I type one single character - any character - the page scrolls down and my text input box disappears below the visible screen. I can use the mouse to scroll it back up to visible, e.g. near the center of the screen. Then I can continue typing and the input box stays put. Until I make a mistake and hit the Backspace key. When I do that, the page scrolls down again.
If I try the same thing using Microsoft's Edge browser, the page does not jump, either at the first character typed or at the use of a backspace key. So the behavior is unique to Firefox interacting with Facebook.
It doesn't happen on other web pages in Firefox, only Facebook.

I don't see Old Layout For Facebook in my extensions. Is there somewhere else it may be hiding?
fu22, if you are having the jumping problem and you don't see "Old Layout" in your extensions, then your problem is different from the one I had. Sorry, I don't know how to help.

I encountered this issue probably 1-2 years ago, delete the file "content-prefs.sqlite" from firefox folder (Backup the file first) could fix this issue and it didn't happen again until last week. However, with latest firefox, this solution could only last for few days. I tried this solution last week and it still worked , but it just happens again today.
anyway, you can try it. I don't think that is a hardware issue.

For me, this started today. I don't have the Old Layout extension, and removing the "content-prefs.sqlite" file didn't work.
I have this problem as well. It renders Firefox perfectly useless for browsing Facebook.
I have this problem too, with Facebook on Firefox, and it doesn't happen with Chrome or Edge. It's been happening with Firefox for a few months. Disabling extensions did not help. As there's no solution, I'm just not going to use Firefox as much.
7-25-2022 I have been having this problem for a few weeks. As someone else said, it makes viewing and using Facebook on Firefox impossible. I have no choice but to close Firefox and use Edge for my browsing.
I'm running Firefox on a Windows 10 desktop computer, and after I disabled the Firefox extension, the problem went away. Other OS's may have different problems, but check carefully through your Firefox settings.
I'm having the same problem with my windows 10 desktop on Firefox. It's been that way for at least a couple of months. Facebook jumps all over the place. I only have two add-ons and have been having them for years. Like the others posting here, Edge works fine with Facebook.
