I have tried several times to update my Shockwave Flash plugin from version 9.0246.0 to version 10.0.45.2. When it completes, it always says version 9.0.246.0 successfully installed.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Tried to upgrade flash.

Try the instructions (and the troubleshooting section) in https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+the+Flash+plugin#Updating_Flash

If that doesn't work, I think it may be best to ask in an Adobe support forum.

Your plugins list shows that you have the Mozilla ActiveX plugin installed. The Mozilla ActiveX plugin is not compatible with Firefox 2 and 3 and you should remove it. For instructions on how to remove the Mozilla ActiveX plugin see: http://kb.mozillazine.org/ActiveX

Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

# Java Plug-in 1.6.0_05 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)

Update the Java plugin to the latest version. See http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp#jdk (you need JRE) --- If the Flash uninstaller doesn't work then see if you have the Flash plugin file(s) NPSWF32.DLL in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins) and delete the file from that folder. There may also be a flashplayer.xpt and a FlashUtil.exe in that folder that you can remove as well.

Flash Player uninstall: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 (this will remove the Firefox Flash plugin and the ActiveX control for IE)
