Suddenly a pop up with a Windows logo and Thinkpoint written on it blocked access to Firefox. Asks to scan system then says you have virus/spyware on your computer, do complete scan to clear. Next window asks for payment to do it. Ignoring this the system gets slower and slower and the pop up comes up every minute and you can't work on any programs on the computer until you close it. It doesn't allow me to install any security or updates to security. It doesn't appear in any programs. How do I get rid of it and be ab

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

If you can't fix it with the above listed scanners then you need to ask advise on one of the forums that specialize in malware removal mentioned in the Popups_not_blocked article.

I had the same virus and I think malwarebytes did the trick. But you have to do some extra steps to bypass Think Point screen and access your computer. I found this blog post extremely helpful: http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-to-remove-thinkpoint-uninstall.html
