Both Adobe & Firefox urge me to upgrade the flash-player. But before Adobe will install it, I'm asked to quit Firefox. My question is - Does this mean temporarily quit, or don't use Firefox with Adobe at all?

That means that you have to close (exit) Firefox (File > Exit Firefox).
You can then start the Flash installer with a double click.

After the installation has finished then you can restart Firefox and verify that the Flash plugin is found.
