Firefox 4 shows me 2 sets of minimize, maximize, and close buttons below eachother. They look different than eachother though. The window automatically resizes with a cursor scrolling over these buttons.

I have a netbook with Windows Starter. Recently updated to Firefox 4, and immediately since its been very buggy. The Window resizes upon a mouse scrolling over the close, maximize, minimize buttons. There are 2 sets of those buttons as well, except only one set works. It looks as if a window of firefox is open with another window inside it. Ive searched for a solution everywhere with no avail. Ive reinstalled firefox, entered its safe mode and reset all plugins, settings, etc. I am not running any skins to change the appearance. Please help!

Thanks

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Thanks for trying to help me cor-el, unfortunately that isn't the solution. Even opening firefox in safe mode the problem persists. All add-ons/extensions are disabled. The default theme is running, yet the same problems continue.

I uninstalled the MSN toolbar, and then did a fresh install of firefox without any old info transferred to it. The problem still exists. Im thinking it may have something to do with the computer its self. I have an HP Mini 210-1199DX with Windows Starter installed on it. I hope this information helps find the root of the problem. If a screen capture of what it looks like helps I can do that too. Thanks!
