i know how to go to tools and click "never remember history." i also click "clear all current history." it clears it. then when i start browsing again, "recently closed windows" shows again, showing all the places i browsed and my searches. how can i permanently set my computer to never show my browsing history?

Make sure that you close and restart Firefox after entering Private Browsing mode via never remember history. That should prevent Firefox from saving session history.
