Hello, I have problem opening a certain site properly. I use firefox 4.0.1 and have tried pretty much everything that has already been suggested in other similar problems I found posted here but the site continues to look wrong. No images, blue letters, white background and all the links are displayed in a list on the left side of the page. I also tried to open it on IE but I get the same result. Could anyone help me?

Detail of the site would help. The fact that it doesn't work, for you, in IE also suggests it is the site or your set-up that is the problem.

As a starter make sure Flash is up-to-date and JavaScript enabled - Options>Content>Enable JavaScript - but if other sites like YouTube are working you should contact the particular site.

That site works fine here with Firefox 4.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extension) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Try to reload that web page and bypass the cache.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Did you try Save mode ?

Yes, I have already tried Safe mode and nothing happened. I did what you said and I still get the same result.

If it happens in other browser as well then check your security software (firewall, anti-virus).

Well, I've disabled the Online Shield and Link Scanner on AVG 9 but can't find how to disable the Anti-Spyware component.
