Have followed instructions for displaying Version number. Does not work. I believe "Firefox button" means the gold & blue globe? No "Help" button. Can find no reference anywhere to version number.

I believe that I have installed v.5 but can find no confirmation anywhere.... till now, when your "educated guess" shows v.5.0.1. Please give me concise instructions for displaying the version number. (For most software packages, "About" works... but not in this case.) Thanks.

You should see the version number in the (Firefox) Help > About window.

You can find more information in Help > Troubleshooting Information

Thanks, Cor-el. Unfortunately. Firefox>About takes me to a page "We're building a better internet" with half a dozen limks , beginning with "Participate" and "Communications".

-> go to Help Menu -> click About Firefox

Check and tell if its working.

I can't think how cor-el's first advice went wrong. For Windows there is no difference between Fx5.0 and 5.01

Just to be really sure you can do -

  • Firefox orange button>Help>Troubleshooting Information lists your Fx version, or
  • Options>Advanced>Update>Show update history(little box at the bottom).

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions. Nothing worked so I removed Firefox altogether and downloaded it again. Now I have the word "Firefox" in top left of title bar and clicking that>Help>About Firefox now produces the version number, just as you said it would!
