Downloading a file would bring up an option to open the file or save it - for some reason now it just downloads straight to the download folder. Why? Problem with Firefox or something else?

Downloading a file would normally bring up an option to open the file with the appropriate program or save it - for some reason now it just downloads straight to the download folder. Why? Problem with Firefox or something else? It's very frustrating - sometimes you want the file opened first so it can be discarded or saved to a different location.

Find the file type in the Firefox -> Options -> Applications panel, open its drop-down menu and select "Always Ask". To reset all download actions, delete the file mimeTypes.rdf in your Firefox profile folder (or rename it XmimeTypes.rdf if you want to save it as a backup). The file will be regenerated with all file types reset to default actions.

See Applications panel - Set how Firefox handles different types of files and Manage file types and download actions in Firefox for more information.

Good Answer. I found that only Microsoft word 97-03 files had "save file" against it. Changed it to "always ask" and it's ok now. Thanks.
