I just upgraded to Firefox 8 and now I can't connect to any webpages at all via Mozilla. I can still connect via Internet Explorer.
I upgraded to Firefox 8 and I can not establish an internet connection to any web page via Firefox. I removed the Firefox program and re-installed via Internet Explorer with the same results.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thanks for the suggestion; but no luck. I gave Firefox full access via my Firewall with the same results. I also turned off my firewall completely and tried to access Firefox 8.0 again with no success. I have given up and am now a Google Chrome user.
I have Windows 7 and McAfee Antivirus Plus and had the same problem, where firefox wouldn't connect, IE and Chrome could.
To solve it I uninstalled Siteadvisor and have full access again. See http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100162&lc=1033
