how do I download pictures to picasa (linux)
A friend sent me a link to a picasa web album. When I click download to picasa I get the following message: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (picasa) isn't associated with any program. I am running ubuntu

So did the address sent to you begin with picasa://? If it did, it is invalid, if you send us the url (get rid of the last few letters/numbers/symbols if you want to keep private) I will correct it for you.
Hi,
You need to have Google Picasa installed for this to work. Please also see this (below): https://picasawebutility.appspot.com/

Unfortunately Picasa is only available for Windows and Mac and not for Linux
Picasa is not currently available for your operating system

http://picasa.google.com/ is the correct address.
I had no problems downloading the album in windows so my problem is effectively fixed. Picasa must be open to allow download to take place.
However I did come across a web site on how to install picasa in ubuntu but have not done so as yet, but may be of interest
