FF upgraded itself last night, and now when I open it, it opens to a blank site (it doesn't show my homepage). When I type in google.com...it takes me to google, but the address bar will always say google.com now, even when I go to another website by clicking a hyperlink. ALSO, the forward and reverse (history) buttons are whited out and there is no way to go back to the previous page!

Not related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)

Nothing worked so far. I restarted in safe mode...everything seems to work fine. Obviously the settings are a little off, but the back and forward buttons worked and when I changed the setting to open a new tab instead of a window, that also worked. The address bar also seemed to work. What does this mean? Should I start deleting add-ons? I'm aware up the plugins needing updating, the problem is with this new build of FF, I'll download the new plugin and it will be as if I did nothing.

If its OK in Safe Mode then you need to find which extension was causing the problems.

Check and tell if its working.
