Ever since the update for Firefox was installed programs have not worked right. I got to the upper left corner and click on add-ons and nothing happens. I pick a web page I want to go to and nothing happens. Then the toolbar for both zone-alarm and aol both disappeared. To open a web site I have to go to the favorites link on the right side.

Zone Alarm has not yet released a toolbar that is compatible with Firefox 11. If past actions hold true, it will take Zone Alarm several weeks to 2 or 3 months to have the update and they may skip and entire Firefox version as they did with Firefox 9. Your Zone Alarm protection is working even if the toolbar is not. Some of the toolbar functions are similar to already built-in Firefox functions (See --> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/phishing-protection/ )

As for AOL toolbar,

  1. verify that it is enabled in Add-ons > Extensions
  2. verify that it is selected (checked) to be displayed (See --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Back%20and%20forward%20or%20other%20toolbar%20items%20are%20missing#w_showing-the-navigation-toolbar)
  3. if that does not solve the problem, find a forum for AOL users and ask for assistance.

I went in to add-ons and the toolbar is listed there but the only options are the options like it says The disable and remove. The Firefox 11.0 does not hold the toolbar on the page but the older versions do. I am having a lot of trouble with the new Firefox and had to remove it. I did a restart and Firefox would not open. Plus some other problems with it. I'm back to using Firefox 8. The AOL and Zonealarm toolbars are both there. working.

Zone Alarm
The Zone Alarm toolbar works only with one version of Firefox at a time; that is their decision and the way that they are releasing it. You can post in the Zone Alarm forum for confirmation and other advice. To see your Zone Alarm version, you can right-click the icon in the system tray (to the left of the clock/calendar) and choose "About".

  • The toolbar for Zone Alarm version 10.1.079.000 works only with Firefox 10 and does not work with Firefox 11 or any version of Firefox prior to Firefox 10
  • The toolbar Zone Alarm version 10.1.065.000 works only with Firefox 8 and does not work with Firefox 10-11 or any version of Firefox prior to Firefox 8
  • There was no Zone Alarm toolbar version that works with Firefox 9
  • There is no solution but
    1. to use a Firefox version with the proper version of Zone Alarm that is compatible with your Firefox version, or
    2. you can also choose to not install the Zone Alarm Tool bar at installation of Zone Alarm -- someone on the Zone Alarm forum can better instruct you on uninstalling your Zone Alarm, downloading the proper version and reinstalling Zone Alarm without the toolbar.
  • Once again, go to the link for the Zone Alarm forum for confirmation of the above, or for other questions/problems with Zone Alarm.

AOL Toolbar
I looked for compatibility information on the AOL site but was unable to find information as to browser compatibility.

  • Once again, as I said in item 3 for AOL Toolbar in my first post, "if that does not solve the problem, find a forum for AOL users and ask for assistance."

I have no further information or advice for you concerning those toolbars.

I had Firefox 8 installed but it updated to 11.0. At present both the Zonealarm and AOL toolbar are installed and working at the top of the page. So I don't know what to think Before when Firefox 11.0 was installed I had all kinds of problems so I took it out and replaced it with an earlier version. including the toolbar s . So I'll have to wait and see what happens Thanks for the help.

As I said before, I can find no information on the AOL toolbar. You will need to search for yourself and/or post on AOL toolbar related user forums if you have problems with that Add-on

As for Zone Alarm latest version 10.1.079.000 and Firefox 11, following is a post from the Zone Alarm forum, since you have not taken my advice and visited or posted a question on the Zone Alarm forum. Your only two options are listed in my previous response, but first you must determine your Zone Alarm version per the instructions in my previous post.

As I keep repeating the same things over and over to you and you seem to not respond with information that you have verified your Zone Alarm version and/or are unwilling to get the information from the sources to which I have directed you, I will have no further responses in this thread.

The problem is now solved. As I said earlier I installed Firefox 8 and it updated to the new 11.0 version. But the toolbar for both AOL and Zonealarm are both installed and listed on the options list and both have a check mark next to them. So thanks to every one for the help. I do appreciate it. Have a great day,.
