Long pause during page load
I've been a long time user of version 3.6.XX and liked the performance of firefox. Since the upgrade to version 12.X.x and now 14.x.x, I noticed a serious degrade on page load times. Sometimes it may require 60 seconds or longer to load a page. If it click on "stop" and then "reload" the page loads as quick as ever. When the page loading is slow I've noticed that on the left bottom it says it is waiting on some website to respond. I think the problem lies with the offending web site that it is waiting to load is one of the common tracking cookie websites that my anti-malware software has blocked and preventing firefox from reaching it. Firefox will freeze during a page load until I assume some internal timer gives up and continues to load the desired page.

Ad i said earlier I tried all the common solutions and NONE worked.
I think I did solve my own problem though. I replaced my HOSTS file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\ect with the hosts file from this URL http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
What this does is redirect all traffic to and from undesirable urls to the local host 127.0.0.1 and in effect keeps firefox from waiting on urls it will never reach. Been an hour now and have not had any page loading delays on those that my malware normally tries to block

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
