Can't play Foxnews videos. Trying to use latest Firefox, Flash and Javascript is enabled. Ad plays but video hangs. Anyone else having this issue?

Have tried both Mozilla 12 and 16, have reloaded Flash several times, have enabled Javascript. Ad seems to play but video does not, only seems to occur with Foxnews.

Hi,

You can try to Clear Now the Cache, Cookies, and Site Preferences with the Time range to clear set to Everything in Tools (Alt + T) > Clear Recent History.

You can check the Flash status here. If you have any external Windows ad blocking applications, or if you're using a proxy you can try to adjust the settings.

Additionally, the Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Verified that I have the latest Flash, and performed the Reset Firefox, no change. Actually worse since now not even the ad comes up...nothing but black screen (where the video would be)

OK so under the possibility that some malware hijacked the browser, I ran both Spybot and Malwarebytes, which both caught a few pieces of adware. But no change. It plays the ad, but after that it never plays the video. I also sent an email to the Foxnews tech guys asking what is going on, but no answer.

OK I found it. I started looking closely at everything running that would be browser related, and found a piece of software called Sendori loaded. I don't know how it got loaded, or what it does other than allegedly speed up the browser (???) but once it was removed, Mozilla goes right to the ad, then the video. So this thing was somehow conflicting with Flash or the browser, and hijacking the search.

I really wish that software developers would test their "great ideas" on all platforms and a really good cross section of websites. Maybe some day we will converge and everything will be "seamless", but we just aren't there yet.

Thanks for your help dumdidadida
